Kia Ora from New Zealand/Aotearoa, the Land of the Long White Cloud. This site collects some Lord of the Rings film and prop related news and personal tidbits, collected over the course of a year and a half. Who am I? Someone whose garden-variety Tolkien appreciation was piqued when the Lord of the Rings movies were made where she lives, in New Zealand.  She's not a native Kiwi, and maybe that's why she finds all the action more exciting than a lot of born-and-bred locals do.

Contrary to popular opinion, living in New Zealand does not mean that you are a personal acquaintance of Peter Jackson who has met everyone on the films. However, LOTR film stuff has seeped through New Zealand popular culture, not least because the LOTR film was the largest employer here for a few months. By now, many Kiwis know someone who had overlap with the film, and it doesn't take much detective work to get some interesting tidbits.
